Talbot County is asking residents and community organizations to help decide how local funds generated by Maryland’s adult-use cannabis tax should be spent.
The money comes from the state’s Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund, which is intended to support communities disproportionately affected by past cannabis enforcement and related economic and social disparities.
Talbot Family Network, which is serving as the county’s CRRF Commission, is developing a plan for how the funds will be distributed.
A public stakeholder meeting will be held Tuesday, August 18, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Talbot County Free Library in Easton. Participants will be invited to discuss community needs and priorities that should guide the use of the funds. Lunch will be provided and advance registration is requested.
A draft of the county’s distribution plan is expected to be posted by August 21 at talbotcountymd.gov/crrf.
The Talbot County Council will hold a public hearing on the plan Tuesday, September 8, during its 5 p.m. meeting at the Talbot County Courthouse in Easton.
Written comments will be accepted until noon on September 3 and may be emailed to publiccomment@talbotcountymd.gov.
More information and registration details are available at talbotcountymd.gov/crrf.
