The Talbot County Free Library (TCFL) is pleased to announce the launch of Community Works, a new speaker series highlighting local government and the people, partnerships, and programs that serve the Talbot County community.
The series begins on August 24, 2026, with Understanding Public Safety in Talbot County. Community members are invited to join Talbot County Sheriff Joe Gamble and Easton Police Chief Alan Lowrey as they discuss the partnerships, coordination, and shared responsibilities that help keep Talbot County safe. The program will be held at 6 p.m. at the Easton Branch of TCFL, located at 100 W. Dover St., Easton, Md.
The second session, Understanding Local Government in Talbot County, will take place on September 3 at 6 p.m. at the Easton Branch. Easton Mayor Megan Cook and Talbot County Council President Chuck Callahan will explain the distinct roles and responsibilities of town and county government, while highlighting the partnerships and collaborative initiatives that benefit residents. The third program, Behind-the-Scenes at Easton Airport (ESN), will be held on September 10 at 10 a.m. at the Easton Airport Offices/ACE Hangar. Airport leadership will guide participants on a one-mile walking tour of the airport and airfield, offering an inside look at daily operations and the facility’s long history of serving the community since its opening in 1943. Space for this tour is limited, and advanced registration is required.
The Community Works series is made possible through generous support from the Maryland250 Citizen Academy Grant and the Talbot250 Commission. All sessions are free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served. For full program descriptions and to register for Behind-the-Scenes at Easton Airport, visit tcfl.org or call 410-822-1626.
