Grab a friend, bring the family, and come dance! Carpe Diem Arts and Talbot County Department of Parks and Recreation invite the community to the Gather ‘Round! Community Dance, a lively, welcoming country square dance featuring live music, easy-to-follow calling, and plenty of opportunities to dance, connect, and have fun on Saturday, October 17, from 4:30–6:30 p.m.
Enjoy an afternoon of traditional country square dances, circles, reels, and contras, accompanied by acclaimed acoustic duo Steve and Ali Quillen. Steve will bring his fiddle and banjo, while Ali plays guitar, providing the lively traditional music that makes community dancing so much fun.
Rebecca Anger, an energetic and experienced dance caller, will teach and lead each dance, making it easy for newcomers to jump right in. No experience is necessary, and no partner is required. Participants can arrive anytime, stay as long as they like, and dance as much – or as little – as they wish.
The event is designed for all ages and experience levels. Those who prefer to watch from the sidelines, enjoy the live music, or cheer on the dancers are warmly welcome, too. Light refreshments will be available.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, we are grateful to our community partner, Family Affair Farm, for generously providing seasonal fall décor.
