Sunday afternoon, October 4th at 3 p.m., The Church of the Holy Trinity (Oxford) will share our second 250th America Celebration concert. This concert features a trio from The Chivalrous Crickets, Jenny Greenteeth. Lively music from the Celtic and American traditions honors the early Scots who immigrated to Oxford. In July 1747, the ship Johnson brought Scots for a 5 year work term. Upon completion of their work arrangement, the Scots received 50 acres of land, tools and corn. Many families remained weaving their traditions, music, and beliefs into the local community life.
This concert features period instruments, such as: Celtic harp, Irish whistle, bodhran, fiddle, and hardanger d’amore (a 10 string bowed instrument). Vocals share the ancient Gaelic language featuring pleasing vocal harmonies, combining with instruments to create an exciting afternoon of beautiful music!
Please join us at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 502 S. Morris Street, Oxford MD. There are no tickets however we will take a freewill offering to help with artists expenses. We also request attendees bring a non-perishable food item to help with local food pantry needs. For more information, please contact the church office at 410-226-5134.
