It was reported today in the Semafor publication that Republican senators are fed up with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. A Republican senator told the reporters: “There are a lot of people who are really upset with the war in Iran and how it’s being played out. We feel it’s hurting our chances in the elections in the fall…”
I don’t think it’s necessarily just Republican senators who make choices based primarily on whether it will get them elected or not. In this particular case, it falls on the Republicans because they are the ones who have remained quiet about the war in Iran. It is discouraging and saddening to hear a Senator complain about the war based on his reelection prospects, rather than the fact that US soldiers have lost their lives, hundreds have been injured, and civilians(including a school of children) have been killed by US munitions. Not to mention the fact that for a president and a party who had pledged “no more never-ending wars”, they have put us in a long-term war which we have lost, which has driven up the cost of living for US citizens, and caused chaos globally.
Andy Harris supports the war in Iran. Even if he doesn’t care how the United States is prosecuting the war, I find it duplicitous that he supports it in the face of the hardships it brings to the Eastern Shore, hardships that fall most directly on the people who appear to be his strongest constituents…farmers and watermen.

We can only hope that the next adminstration – of either party – does the right thing and reinstates or otherwise makes whole all of the flag and general officers who have been so horribly mistreated by this incredibly sad excuse for a SECDEF.
Handgun Harris would follow Trump into any war he starts, but neither one of them would ever put on the uniform or carry arms against the real enemies of America. It’s long past time for Eastern Shore farmers and watermen, traditional Republicans, to realize, this is no longer their parents Republican party. You all have a chance to do that in this November’s election. Your move.

Congressman Andy should go out the door on January driven by a Daniel vs Goliath Mid Term defeat and the new Congress should send Pistol Pete Hegseth back to Fox News where he can no harm. Farmers and watermrn should rejoice.
