The third annual St. Michaels Running Festival was the most successful yet – with more than 2600 runners coming from 32 states to raise more than $50,000 for a variety of charities.
In addition, area businesses report having a great weekend with all of the visitors shopping, dining and staying in local venues. According to Tim Washburn, Manager of the Harbor Inn spa, “We were completely sold out all weekend, with the vast majority of our customers being runners. It was a great weekend for us and for other area businesses.”
This year’s event featured a kids 1k fun run for the first time. While organizers anticipated having 30-40 children participate, they were blown away by the more than 75 youth who came out to run.
“As I looked at the starting line for the kids run, there were children ranging from 22 months old to 12 years old,” said Race Director Peter Paris. “All of whom were excited to be involved and thrilled to see Justine’s Ice Cream as the sponsor!”
Proceeds from the kids run benefit the St. Michaels Community Center and St. Michaels Youth and Law Enforcement (SMYLE).
Next year’s race will be held on May 16th – more information will be available soon at www.runstm.com
Sponsorships and expo spaces are still available for interested businesses. For more information about sponsorships, contact Sparrow Rogers at [email protected]
St. Michaels Running Festival is a Maryland-based partnership founded by Peter Paris and Sparrow Rogers, both of St. Michaels.
