Library Talk: How Dutch Painting Influenced a Modern Best-seller
On Wednesday, September 17, at noon, in the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library, Dr. Anke Van Wagenberg will discuss the role of Dutch art in Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Goldfinch. Van Wagenberg, who received her Ph.D. from Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, has worked in the U.S. since 1986, with stints at the National Gallery of Art and The Walters. She currently serves as curator of Easton’s Academy Art Museum. All library programs are free and open to the public. Patrons do not need to pre-register for this program. Library Talk: A Slave Visits Philadelphia With His Master, Thomas Jefferson
On Thursday, September 18, at 6:00 p.m., in the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library, writer, storyteller, and former college professor Lawrence Reid Bechtel will discuss his latest project, a novel he is writing based on the true story of 15 year-old slave Isaac Granger Jefferson’s 1790 trip to Philadelphia in the company of his master, Thomas Jefferson. Bechtel’s book was inspired by his portrait sculptures of the two Jeffersons. All library programs are free and open to the public. Patrons do not need to pre-register for this program.
