From June 3 to July 29, 2016, 717 Gallery in Easton, Maryland presents its 3rd Annual International Artists Invitational Show. The opening reception is on June 3 from 5-8pm during Easton’s First Friday Gallery Walk.
The walls of this bright, spacious gallery will come alive with colorful, innovative artwork—evocative figures, still lifes, street scenes, and landscapes created by some of the best artists in the world. This year’s show features an outstanding selection of oil paintings by 14 exceptional artists:
Carolyn Anderson from Montana, Anne Blair Brown from Tennessee, John Michael Carter from Kentucky, Louis Escobedo from Maryland, Nancy Franke from Georgia, Damien Gonzales from New Mexico, Barbara Jaenicke from Oregon, Robert Johnson from Virginia, Huihan Liu from California, Jennifer McChristian from California, Tibor Nagy from Slovakia, Derek Penix from Oklahoma, Matt Smith from Arizona, and Peter Van Dyck from Pennsylvania.
For the past year, 717 Gallery owners Louis and Yolanda Escobedo have studied and discussed which artists to include in this prestigious annual exhibition. “I am privileged to have leading nationally recognized artists accept the invitation to exhibit in this show,” says Yolanda Escobedo. “Our goal is to create a unique and inspiring show featuring some of the finest artists in world today, and to give our collectors a rare opportunity to see this amazing collection. Louis and I are honored and excited to host this exhibition of beautiful and important modern realism paintings.”
Louis and Yolanda Escobedo attended the 25th Anniversary Oil Painters of America (OPA) National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils on May 14, 2016 in Dallas, Texas. From a field of 2,500 submissions, only 250 artists were selected to participate in this prestigious event. The Escobedos were thrilled to be present when five artists from 717 Gallery’s International Artists Invitational Show received awards. Derrick Penix received the highest honor, the Gold Medal award, which included a $30,000 prize, for his painting titled “Spade Fish.” Huihan Liu won the Gold Medal award in the Master Signature Division for his painting titled “At Mt. Tangulla Pass, Northern Tibet.” John Michael Carter, also an OPA Master Signature Member won Most Original Award of Excellence for his painting titled “Chalice.” Anne Blair Brown received the Silver Anniversary Award of Excellence for her painting titled “Sunny Disposition.” Other accepted artists from the 717 Gallery International Artists Invitational were Louis Escobedo, Damien Gonzalez, Robert Johnson and Jennifer McChristian.
