Most artists claim that painting is a matter of composition, shapes, color and value, with a subject being represented. Professional artist, Heidi Clark, will explain how abstract artists achieve a feeling, mood or atmosphere, but often without an identifiable subject in “A Different Perspective – Abstract Art”, a free lecture at 7 PM on Thursday evening, August 7 at the St. Michaels Branch of the Talbot County Free Library.
Ms. Clark is part owner of the Clark Gallery of Fine Art on S. Talbot Street in St. Michaels. Her art is multi-faceted, mixing media, incorporating metals, ink, paint and cast paper to create works full of dimension and contrasts. Heidi is a self-taught artist who has a deep passion and endless curiosity for abstract art. She had a prior career as a deputy sheriff.
The St. Michaels Art League, assisted by a grant from AT&T and support from the Talbot County Arts Council, is presenting ARTfest, “100 Days of Art” during the summer of 2014. Programs include a series of free public presentations on art, workshops for adults and children, Master Art Classes and a Member Gallery at 106 Railroad Ave., St. Michaels.
