The Trippe Gallery will be hosting a retrospective show, “Honoring Lin”, of the work of local photographer Lin Barrett for the month of May.
Linda (Lin) Barrett-Artist, Friend, Teacher and Mom-died peacefully on December 31st, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.
As “Lizzie Barrett Photography” and a photography art instructor, Lin put her Masters of Fine Art from Academy of Art University to good use teaching photography for the Art Institute of Pittsburgh-Online Division since 2010. Her K-12 contribution to teaching focused on photography and drawing. Through Lin’s unique teaching skills and personally developed curriculum, she gave many students the confidence to learn to draw.
Photography became Lin’s media of choice after undergraduate school. “I picked up at 45 mm Canon AE1 over twenty-five years ago with a decision to explore black and white imagery and my love of photography never stopped.” That pursuit grew into printing fiber prints in her own darkroom and ultimately hand tinting the prints. Lin’s passion for photography and art will live on though her captured images and the skills she instilled in her students. The exhibit will feature a range of Barrett’s work including images she made while navigating the journey of her illness, which are quite moving.
The Trippe Gallery is located at 23 N Harrison Street in the heart of historic Easton. For more information please call 410-310-8727.
