Easton merchants beware. Sprout, one of Easton’s more popular food establishments, was broken into last night. Surveillance cameras filmed the suspect as he roamed the empty store looking for cash and other items to steal. Even the donations jar for the local Hopeful campaign was not spared.
Amy Haines, who is co-leading the Hopeful Campaign with husband, Richard Marks, said about the incident, “It was sad that someone would steal our Hopeful funds, but they can’t take away our Hope!”
Upon hearing the sad news, locals Jen and Ryan Carrion at Carrion Electric have responded already and donated $1,000 to the Hopeful cause. Other sympathetic readers are encouraging to help by going to the Hopeful website and making a donation here.
To date, the intruder has not been identified and area stories and businesses should be on extra alert as the police investigate and hopefully apprehend the perpetrator of the crime.
Update 11:44 am: The suspect is now in custody by the Easton Police Department as of 11:00 am this morning.
