On Saturday, September 15, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Academy Art Museum will host a 60th Birthday Party and Annual Members’ Meeting. Included in the event will be the Museum’s annual Instructor Open House from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will include demonstrations, entertainment, refreshments, and door prizes.
According to Katie Cassidy, Education Consultant at the Academy Art Museum, “The event will introduce our exciting fall line-up of classes and instructors. Demonstrations in drawing a live model, monoprints, pastel, watercolor, photography, and oil and acrylic painting will be offered.”
New this year, will be classes by artist Maggii Sarfaty, who will be showing her handmade ornaments; John Dynan and Melissa Kay-Steves who will be teaching jewelry making; and Stephen Walker, who will be teaching photography in the Museum’s Digital Lab.
The schedule for instructor demonstrations on September 15 is as follows:
Shery Southwick – Visual Arts Studio, monoprints, 10 – 11: 30 a.m.
Katie Cassidy – Painting Studio, drawing and pastels, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Steve Bleinberger – Drawing Studio, watercolor, 1 – 3 p.m.
Brad Ross – Drawing Studio, portrait and figure, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Diane Mullaly -Painting Studio, oil and acrylic, 1 – 3 p.m.
Steve Walker – Digital Studio, photography, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Paul Aspell – Clay Studio, 11:30 – 1 p.m.
Maggii Sarfaty – Atrium, handmade holiday ornaments, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
John Dynan and Melissa Kay-Steves – Atrium, jewelry, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
