All are invited to join Allegro Academy’s virtual performance, Songs of Hope, on November 19 at 7pm. The program will feature selections from Allegra! women’s chorus, joined by young singers, other Academy musicians, as well as a tribute to local Talbot County organizations. This is a free performance and can be viewed at the time of the event at www.allegroacademyeaston.com.
Songs of Hope will bring music that highlights our need for community connection in a time when we find ourselves isolated, and that music itself fosters such a connection. Since March of this year, the Academy has offered singing classes to various age groups, been meeting for virtual rehearsals, and hosted impromptu sidewalk singing on First Fridays downtown Easton. In pre-pandemic times, the Academy’s programs include ensembles and classes for ages as young as 6 through adult. This year’s programs have been postponed, including the community Summer Sing featuring a 50-voice choir and professional orchestra members and soloists.
Programs of Allegro Academy are funded by the Talbot County and Maryland State Arts Councils, the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, and generous contributions from our community. The mission of Allegro Academy is to offer exceptional music education and performance experiences to the greater Talbot County Area, and to make these offerings affordable to all.
