Registration for the 2018-2019 Allegro Children’s Chorus is now open to students in grades 4-12. The Allegro Children’s Chorus is a community program of the Allegro Academy whose members represent Caroline, Talbot, Dorchester, Queen Anne’s, and Kent counties. Singers of the Allegro Children’s Chorus will learn a variety of music for community and seasonal events while focusing on aspects of music theory, healthy vocal technique, and musicianship. The chorus’ previous season included performances at Trinity Cathedral Easton, Talbot Hospice Festival of Trees, Maryland Statehouse Annapolis, Easton Club East, and St. Paul’s church, Oxford.Rehearsals will be held Monday afternoons with ensembles from 4:30-7pm, beginning September 10.Participants will pay of fee of $125 each semester, need-based scholarships are available.
The Allegro Children’s Chorus sings under the leadership of Allegro Academy Artistic Director, Amy Morgan. Mrs. Morgan is a native of the Eastern Shore and an accomplished musician whose education includes a Bachelors degree in Piano Performance from Salisbury University and Masters in Choral Conducting from Messiah College.She has served as the Director of Music at Trinity Cathedral since 2014 and is the founder of the Allegro Academy.
Other programs of the Allegro Academy include a concert series with professional artists, private music lessons in violin, voice, and piano, and Summer Sing, which invites vocalists from the community to perform a major choral work with professional soloists and orchestra. The 2018 Summer Sing featured Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria with nearly 60 singers from across the Mid-Shore Maryland.
