The Chester River Health Foundation hosted its 25th annual golf fundraiser on Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Chester River Yacht & Country Club.
“The Foundation’s event chair, Mary Burton, has donated a lot of time over the past 10 years to confer with and advise the staff in preparation for each and every one of our events,” said Maryann Ruehrmund, Foundation executive director. “Mary’s husband, Harry Burton, was an unofficial member of the Foundation’s Golf Committee, and provided guidance and expertise as the event was put together each year. Those of us planning the event don’t play golf and there were many times that Harry jumped in to explain things or help negotiate a discussion.”
Harry passed away in October 2018. He had never missed a single Foundation event. In his memory and with very special thanks to Mary, the Chester River Health Foundation board and staff, and the Chester River Yacht & Country Club’s MISGA members, got together and purchased a bench and bronze plaque in Harry’s memory, which was presented to Mary and installed on the tee at Hole #1, at the Foundation’s tournament.
