Update: Major Claiborne House Fire

February 9, 2014 by Spy Desk

Share

A residential fire has destroyed an unoccupied Claiborne house this evening. The St. Michaels Volunteer Fire Department continue to battle the blaze, but it is under control as of 8:00 PM. There is no information at this time of the cause of the fire.

The Spy will be updating this story later tonight.

Update: Sunday February 9, 2014

More details are starting to emerge from the house fire in Claiborne Saturday night. While the owner of the house was not injured, two dogs, one of them deaf, are assumed dead after several attempts to rescue them by a nearby neighbor. While the fire inspector would not cite the cause of the fire, there is speculation that it might be been the result of some electrical issues associated with maintenance work being done on the house in recent weeks.
