There were quite a few things that Peter Franchot, Comptroller of Maryland, was clear about when the Spy met with him in Annapolis last week. The first is that municipalities in Maryland need to think big when requesting capital project funding from the state. The second is that he works well with Governor Larry Hogan and believes bipartisanship leadership is a good thing in Annapolis. The third is the state’s current annual spending is not sustainable. And the fourth is that Donald Trump is the worst thing to happen in American politics in his lifetime.
Those are the major points Comptroller Franchot brings to the forefront in his first Spy interview in his office. Without mincing words, he talks with a candor that he has been known for since entering state politics in 1987.

What a class act and a first rate public servant. Best two minute summary of the upcoming election and Trump candidacy. Nothing more to say.
