On March 28th, KCHS had the opportunity to take 23 students to a leadership seminar sponsored by Character Counts! of Kent County and held at Dixon Valve & Coupling Company. The students learned the importance of being a good leader but also about their own leadership styles. They analyzed how their leadership style may determine how they may be perceived by others and how to best work with other personalities collaboratively. Dr. Bryan Matthews, VP for KRM Development, lead off the day with the assertion “Just because you are good at something does not mean that you are a great leader who can lead with integrity.”
Deann Jones, Director of Character Counts! of Kent County, noted “Leading with Integrity was an engaging and fun workshop! The students learned more about themselves and hopefully they can take what they have learned and become more effective in their leadership roles. I am very thankful to Dixon and the staff for bringing this opportunity to the students.”
Students participating in the seminar currently hold leadership positions within KCHS athletics or organizations.
