The Christmas in St. Michaels Board has announced the names of the non-profit organizations it has selected as beneficiaries of the proceeds from this year’s charity fund-raising event on December 9, 10 and 11. They are: Back Pack Project at Christ Church, St. Michaels; Bay Hundred Community Volunteers; Care Packs of Talbot County; Character Counts; Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum Rising Tide Program; Critchlow Adkins Children’s Centers – St. Michaels Site; Drew Landis Memorial Fireworks Fund, Inc.; Phillips Wharf Environmental Center; Pickering Creek Audubon Center; Shared Table; SMASH; St. Michaels Community Center; St. Michaels Family YMCA Summer Learning; St. Michaels Fire Department; St. Michaels High School After-Prom; St. Michaels Little League; St. Michaels Museum at St. Mary’s Square; Stop Bullying Talbot LLC; Tilghman Area Youth Association; and Tilghman Waterman’s Museum.
In making this announcement, Board President Pat Martin said, “During this, our 30th anniversary year, we are very pleased to continue our financial support of local non-profit organizations that enhance the quality of life for members of all ages in our community. Our funds are supporting services in the areas of conservation and environmental preservation, community enhancements, historical heritage, family services, and education and child development.”
The Christmas in St. Michaels December event provides a very special start to the holiday season. Activities include the Yuletide Party and 30th Anniversary Celebration, Talbot Street Parade, Tour of Homes, Breakfast with Santa, Santa’s Wonderland, Gingerbread House Display, shopping at the Marketplace boutique for hand-crafted gifts, a Celebration of Choirs, and many other holiday festivities. Since its founding in 1987, Christmas in St. Michaels has raised more than $1 million for its beneficiaries.
