Chuck and Robert Redd will return to The Church of the Holy Trinity, Oxford MD, for their annual holiday jazz concert on December 22nd at 3 p.m.
The Redd Brothers are familiar to many through their performances in Oxford, Easton, and Rock Hall along with their participation in the Jazz on the Chesapeake festivals Known internationally as performers, recording artists, music educators, and festival organizers the Redd brothers are in high demand.
One often can find Chuck Redd performing at jazz venues in Washington, D.C., and New York City, or headlining jazz festivals throughout the United States. In 2019 Chuck was named Musical Director of The Oregon Festival of American Music, a very prestigious position. He continues to be a featured soloist with The W.C. Handy Music Festival, The Newport Beach Jazz Party, The West Texas Jazz Party, The North Carolina Jazz Festival, and The Roswell Jazz Festival. Chuck continues to tour Europe, Japan, and other countries with The Barney Kessel Trio, Ken Peplowski, The Benny Goodman Tribute Orchestra, Terry Gibbs and Conte Candoli. Dear to his heart is music education. Students throughout the country enjoy master classes, workshops, lessons and lectures, at concert venues and at The University of Maryland School of Music, where he is a faculty member. This year a major accomplishment was the release of Chuck’s CD, Groove City (Dalphine Records). This CD features amazing artists, in addition to Chuck Redd: John DiMartino, Nicki Parrott, Lewis Nash, and Jerry Weldon.
Robert Redd is a current member of The Duke Ellington Orchestra, performing throughout the U.S. and abroad. Recent tours have included Japan, Singapore, Korea, Israel, and London. Robert was a member of the late Ketter Betts Trio and continues as pianist/leader for the Wolf Trap Jazz Trio. Every year he is a featured artist at The W.C. Handy Music Festival. Every Sunday night when Robert is in the DC area, he performs regularly with Brooks Tegler Trio at The Irish Inn, Glen Echo, MD.
