The Dorchester Garden Club and Wednesday Morning Artists are blending their talents to present Florally Inspired at the Dorchester Center for the Arts. This will be an exhibit of flower arrangements created by members of the garden club, each prompted by an object from everyday life provided by the art group members. The objects and the floral arrangements will be the centerpiece of an Opening Night event at the art center on Saturday, June 7, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Susie Middleton, member of the Dorchester Garden Club and Accredited NGC Flower Show Judge, will share her thoughts about the connection between art and floral design, and she will give an overview of the types of flower designs that are on display during this evening.
The individual designers will be on hand to talk with visitors about the elements, the principals of design, the stories being told with the flowers, and to answer questions. In addition, the designers will be vying to win the evening’s People’s Choice Award.
Six solid wood Adirondack chairs, each hand painted in a floral motif, are now on exhibit at the art center where a silent auction is in process. You may go to the art center to bid on the chair of your choice. The silent auction will come to an end during Opening Night and the six winning bidders will be announced. The art center will benefit from the proceeds.
This is the 4th Opening Night. These events are presented by the Wednesday Morning Artists and provide a menu of education, connections between art and viewer, exceptional décor, unique appetizers, audience participation, and more.
