The Town of Easton Planning and Zoning Department is excited to be hosting a public charette (a collaborative, interactive workshop) for the East End Small Area Plan. This free event will run from October 24 through October 28, and will be held at the Easton Church of God on 1009 North Washington Street in Easton.
The overall goal of the charrette is to generate ideas, solve problems, and develop creative solutions to build consensus around decisions and objectives to be included in the East End Small Area Plan. The East End Small Area Plan is an official update to the Town’s existing East End Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization Plan created in 1997. Easton’s Planning and Zoning Department aims to create a revised plan that will better reflect the area’s current needs and opportunities.
In addition to garnering public response and input, a multi-disciplinary team including experts in urban design, land use planning, transportation planning, architecture, and landscape design will be consulting and helping to develop solutions towards this common goal throughout the five day charette.
Planning and Zoning Director Miguel Salinas said, “We want to encourage our Town’s residents to come out and share their opinions on these important decisions to be made in the neighborhood. It’s a really unique opportunity for them to help shape this neighborhood, and it’s available to anyone who wants to participate.”
Salinas continued, “The last plan came out over 25 years ago, and so much of this area has grown and changed in interesting ways. We see a lot of potential for great things in this part of Town, but we want to hear from the residents to make sure we are all working towards the same future.”
A schedule for the charette provides several opportunities for public attendance and input.
