Election Highlights: Mizeur to Challenge Harris; Mautz Defeats Addie Eckardt

Former Del. Heather Mizeur decidedly won over Dave Harden in the the Democratic primary in the 1st District. but she’ll be the underdog in the general election against Rep. Andy Harris, the lone Republican in the state’s congressional delegation.

The evening’s other significant news was the landslide victory of Republican Johnny Mautz over  incumbent Addie Eckardt.

In other news, both parties determined their five candidates for Talbot County Council for the November.

On the Republican side, Chuck Callihan, Dave Stepp, Wade Strickland, Lynn Mieke, and David Montgomery is be on the ballot.

On the Democratic front, Pete Lesher, Keasha Haythe, Michele Dappert, Phil Jackson and Scott Kane will be on the ballot in Novmeber.

    Congratulations to Johnny Mautz, the five council candidates, and all the other Republican winners. Go Dan Cox and Gordana Schifanelli. We shall see you at your inauguration.

    Actually the fifth Democratic candidate for Talbot County Council will be determined from the mail ballots. There is only a 100 vote difference between the fifth, Scott Kane, and sixth place candidate, Jim Bruce, so stay tuned.
