Established in 2004, Freedom Rowers is a non-profit co-educational junior rowing team on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The team has over 500 alumni and 30 – 40 rowers in any given season. By teaching the commitment and discipline rowing requires, the organization boosts growth and self-esteem while opening doors for scholastic, community, and personal achievement. Freedom Rowers enjoys tremendous community support and devotes significant resources to offer need-based scholarships and keep our program fees low.
“As we celebrate 15 years of providing learning and athletic opportunities for our community youth, we’re planning for the future by seeking results driven leaders to help steer our organization for the next 15 years,” said Chris Gill, Executive Director. “We are searching for individuals who want to support an organization that has a direct impact on the young people in our community. We would love to hear from you!”
Volunteers are not required to be familiar with the sport of rowing to join the board, but non-profit and fundraising
experience is preferred. The board meets quarterly with individual board members leading specific initiatives throughout the year.
