It turns out our weekly commentators created their own newsletter recently based on popular demand. Our online discussions in The Spy have been traveling well outside the Eastern Shore. So, with encouragement from The Spy, the political whisperers now reach out in periodic podcasts and written commentary individually and together. Of course, our weekly visits will continue.
On occasion, The Spy will share some of their comments. And this week, both wrote about voting and what was running through their minds. In the spirit of encouraging everyone to vote, here is what they had to say:
Al From – Threshold Qualities for a President
Craig Fuller – I Exercised My Right to Vote
As election day approaches on Tuesday, November 5th, please take time to vote!

Both gentlemen argue Mr. Trump, as president, would be a danger to our democracy. Perhaps.
But neither he nor his party, such as it is, have openly threatened to pack the Supreme Court or, through legislation, bring that branch of government under control of the congressional branch. There can be no greater danger to our democracy than to emasculate one of the three balancing branches of our government and that is precisely what numerous leaders in the Democratic Party have advocated.

Blinders off and open your eyes for just a moment. Those actions have already occurred. Think January 6, 2021, sir. Think Brent Kavanaugh, and the other two, sir. Think influence exerted to effectively remove a woman’s life when it comes to her health. Shall I go on?
Kind regards.
Deirdre LaMotte says
And to follow up, it has now been revealed that Trump ordered the FBI to cease the background check on Brent Kavanaugh when it was revealed hundreds had responded to their inquiry.
This does not happen in a democracy. Think before you vote because this election is beyond “you”.
It is our nation. No hyperbole.

Regarding politics, is anyone there flummoxed and dismayed by your (re)elected rep Andy Harris wanting NC to declare Trump the winner before the voting?
He was involved in Jan 6th planning to overthrow a national election and now promoting something Unconstitutional and Un-American in another state.
He should “mind his own damn business” (Walz) and focus on best interest of your district but why you are reelecting someone not only doing a bad job for you but a scourge on the entire country???
Suzanne Todd says
Trump already packed the court.
