The General Perry Benson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently met to celebrate women in the Easton area with their yearly service activity.  This year the chapter met to fill 100 personal care or Blessing Bags for the Mid Shore Council on Family Violence in Easton for their clients. Items for the colorful bags included lotions, socks, pens and notebooks, inspirational sayings, silicone bracelets, happy stickers and a little stone heart. Our Regent and Vice Regent delivered the bags to the Council who were very appreciative of the DAR support.

The Mid Shore Council on Family Violence is a nonprofit organization that helps abuse victims become self sufficient survivors.  In supporting their clients the Council helps with housing, basic needs, legal services, counseling, pet services and other needs.

General Perry Benson Chapter DAR performs service to the community on a continual basis and focuses on Women’s’ Issues by organizing a chapter event each year to help a nonprofit organization focused on women.

The DAR is the largest lineage society with over one million members in the United States and worldwide.  It focuses is honoring historical preservation, patriotism, education and women. Women who are 18 years and older are eligible to apply if they have a patriot who served in the Revolutionary War.  Our chapter celebrates its 60th anniversary serving the mid shore area this year. For more information contact this chapter at [email protected] and a member will reach out with information.
