Grace Lutheran Church invites the community to the final concert in its 2015-2016 “For the Love of Music” series, Sunday, June 5 at 4PM, featuring Katy Shackleton Williams, soprano in a “Tribute to Madaline Kahn.” The concert, which is free of charge, will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in historic downtown Easton at the corner of Brookletts Ave and Hanson Street. There will be a free will offering.
Katy Shackleton Williams has performed extensively in the Pittsburgh area with prestigious organizations such as the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO), Pittsburgh Opera, Civic Light Opera, the Mendelssohn Choir, Pittsburgh Opera Theater and River City Brass Band. She has also had the pleasure of singing with the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic and the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra in Tennessee.
Katy was a featured soloist for the PSO Holiday Pops concert series, singing the Marvin Hamlisch original song “Take Me to Christmas Past.” She made her Pittsburgh Symphony debut in September 2005 and has been a frequent guest artist ever since. She has performed with the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC, and has sung the National Anthem at Three Rivers Stadium. She has recorded with New World Records and under the Naxos label. Katy has also had numerous notable solo engagements across the country.
Currently, Katy is a chorister in the Pittsburgh Opera and adjunct music staff at Point Park University and Washington and Jefferson College. She is the soprano soloist at Rodef Shalom, Oakland, and the vocal artist in residence at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Mt. Lebanon. She is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Vocal Performance.
Selections will include favorites from Giacomo Puccini, Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, Victor Herbert and Mel Brooks. There will even be a special guest appearance from Grover of Sesame Street fame.
