The candidates standing for election to the Easton Town Council that takes place on Tuesday, May 6th, have all been interviewed. They will appear in an Avalon/Spy Town Hall this coming Tuesday, April 29th, at the Avalon with doors opening at 5:30 PM. To help prepare for the Town Hall, you are invited to share your views and suggest a question by taking a brief survey.
You will find all of this by clicking on the Easton Election, which will take you to a special post in our Spy Journal.
Michael Davis says
The Republican Central Committee of Talbot County endorsed Frank Gunsallus for President of the Easton Town Council. The Republicans explained that the endorsement is based on Mr. Gunsallus sharing their values. They believe in cutting all federal funding from governments that do not comply with the campaign against DEI. The Council just voted to leave language in the employee handbook that, according to some Republicans, supports DEI. That means local Republicans support Trump cutting all funds to Talbot and Easton unless the city reverses its position.
Question: Mr. Gunsallus, assuming you share the values of the Central Committee, are you going to work with local Republicans to ensure Trumps cuts all federal funding from Talbot County and the City of Easton.
WADELLA C THOMAS says
I totally agree with cutting all federal funding from Talbot County and the city of Easton for refusing to comply with getting rid DEI.
Sarah Kilmon says
Do you have to pay to take the survey?
Editor says
There is no fee required to take the survey.
Clara Kelly says
Good evening Mr. Gunsallus,
My husband and I have been permanent residents of Easton since 2019.
During your 2023 Talbot Spy interview, you identified public safety and attainable/affordable housing as two of your top priorities if elected President of the Easton Town Council. What steps have you taken to advance these priorities during the 1 ½ years since your election?
During that same 2023 Talbot Spy interview, you declared yourself to be an independent and unaffiliated with any political party and quoted President George Washington’s farewell address warning about the dangers of party politics. As you know, Easton’s elections are traditionally non-partisan, yet you appear to have solicited endorsements from in- and out-of-state party politicians and committees. You have also displayed campaign signs in the windows of a party’s local office. What made you change your mind about how you would run your 2025 re-election campaign?
Thank you.
