Hold the Mustard: Easton Parks Board Pulls the Plug on Food Trucks at Town Sports Complex

January 28, 2026 by Spy Staff

Share

The Town of Easton Parks and Recreation Advisory Board voted unanimously this week to deny a request to allow food trucks at Northeastern Park, citing limited parking, safety concerns, and competition with existing concession stands.

The proposal would have allowed a mobile food or coffee truck during youth sports events at the Northeastern Sports Complex. Board members said the park already struggles with parking during busy weekends and that additional vendors could worsen congestion and create safety issues for children.

Members also noted the town’s investment in permanent concession stands and argued that food trucks would undercut those facilities at a time when volunteer staffing is already difficult. The board further expressed concern that approving a single truck would set a precedent and make it difficult to deny future requests.

As an alternative, members suggested outside vendors could operate from existing concession stands rather than bringing in trucks. The board said the issue could be revisited if parking, staffing, or facilities improve.
