Pope Francis was Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2013. On March 20, 2014 at 6 p.m., Father Thomas Reese SJ, a Senior Analyst for the National Catholic Reporter, and author of “Inside the Vatican: The Politics and Organization of the Catholic Church,” will speak at the Academy Art Museum in Easton, MD. Father Reese is a distinguished theologian, journalist, scholar and Vatican insider, as well as an accomplished public speaker who has appeared on the “Diane Rehm Show” on NPR, as well as other venues.
The election of Pope Francis surprised everyone and he has continued to surprise people with his simple style and message of compassion and love. This lecture, “The Election and Impact of Pope Francis,” is part of the Kittredge-Wilson Speakers Series held on Thursdays throughout the year at the Academy Art Museum. Father Reese will answer such questions as how Pope Francis got elected and what has been the impact of his election on the church and the world? He will also discuss what we can expect in the future from the Pope. President Obama is going to meet Pope Francis on March 27, 2014.
Individual tickets for the lecture are $15 for members and $20 for non-Museum members. For further information or to register, call 410-822-ARTS (2787) or visit www.academyartmuseum.org.
