Kurt Fuchs, Manager of External Affairs, Easton Utilities

Easton Utilities named Kurt Fuchs as the Manager of External Affairs, a new role for the organization. With over 20 years of experience in various government and external affairs positions, he will be focused on evaluating public policy issues and regulatory shifts while cultivating external partnerships. “It is a privilege to join such a remarkable team and I am honored to advocate for Easton Utilities. I’ve always admired their commitment to the customers they serve as well as the community, and I plan to fold right into the admirable culture,” stated Fuchs.

In this role, Kurt will play an integral and strategic role encompassing policy oversight, growth planning, and infrastructure funding mechanisms to drive sustainable development for the organization. Kurt will focus on the development and execution of advocacy strategies with legislative bodies across local, state and federal levels. He will also concentrate on economic and community development to encourage business expansions and infrastructure growth with an emphasis on sustainability. Kurt is also responsible for researching grant funding opportunities and building effective relationships with elected officials, government agencies, key accounts, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

Prior to joining Easton Utilities, Kurt served as the Director of Government Affairs for Horizon Farm Credit where he worked across a five-state footprint to support rural communities and agriculture with financial and related services. He also spent nine years in government relations with the Maryland Farm Bureau, Inc. “Kurt brings a depth of capabilities, and I am certain he will make an immediate impact on the strategic vision for our organization,” said Kelly Simonsen, Director of Corporate Communications.

A native of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Kurt graduated from McDaniel College with a degree in political science. He is active with numerous volunteer and civic organizations and is a graduate of LEAD Maryland, Shore Leadership, and Leadership Maryland. Kurt currently lives in Queenstown with his wife and daughter.
