I am a mother of two young children in the Talbot County Public Schools, and have been following the school board races closely. The support of our students and staff alike is very important to me.
Jymil Thompson, running for Talbot County School Board in District 1, is the best qualified for this position during a time of heightened attention to school board races.
Jymil is a passionate educator with over thirteen years of experience in K-12 education. Prior to becoming the Head of School at Polaris Village Academy, Jymil was the Principal of Maces Lane Middle School in Cambridge.
As a School Board Member, Jymil will be committed to the following:
Improving Kindergarten readiness
Increasing 3rd-grade reading
Increasing staff diversity
Expanding equitable systems, practices and policies
Jymil has a Bachelor’s Degree from Penn State, an MA in Teaching from Trinity University and a Master’s in Educational Administration and Policy from Howard University.
Jymil’s education combined with his teaching and administrative experience make him particularly well-suited to serve on the Board of Education in Talbot County.
We need experts and Jymil is one.

A couple of questions for ALL those running for the school board.
1) What’s your position on banning or removing books from schools? Would you override librarians in their choice of what books are kept on library shelves? Do you think a book should be removed because it makes someone uncomfortable?
2) What is your position on accommodating the unique needs of LGBTQ students?
