We were recently presented with a list of our president’s accomplishments. Our economy did continue upon its decade-long upward trajectory until Covid-19, and our president has signed countless bills and executive orders; but it is difficult to take anything at face value when our heads are spinning from over 20,000 falsehoods.
Here is an abbreviated list of those accomplishments, with a few perspectives:
Take no salary, but rake in taxpayer dollars in violation of the Emoluments Clause.
Slash federal regulations, since global warming is a “hoax.”
Nominate a Supreme Court Justice, in spite of refusing to consider Obama’s nominee during his last year in office.
Ensure funding for historic black colleges. A laudable bipartisan renewal of a bill that expired.
Keep Guantanamo Bay Detention Center open in order to erode our moral legitimacy for 20 more years? More than half of the 40 men remaining are being held indefinitely without a charge or a trial.
Move US Embassy to Jerusalem, and remember that the temporary quarters cost next to nothing.
Increase veterans’ healthcare. Veterans’ Choice was approved by Obama in 2014. Trump expanded coverage.
Limit legal immigration, without separating children from their parents?
Use US steel for infrastructure, without an infrastructure plan? Production hit 87 million metric tons in 2018 following Trump’s 25% tariff on imported steel, but we had produced 88 metric tons in 2014.
Stop TPP. Democratic lawmakers praised this order, although the possibility of pulling out of the the North American Free Trade Agreement posed concerns for all.
Saved Carrier plant in Indiana, but lost over half the jobs.
Create 10 percent repatriation tax. Netted a bit less, but promise kept!
Reverse Obama’s 2016 executive gun order. Mental illness is strongly associated with firearm fatalities. A majority of people with mental health issues are not violent, but we would hopefully agree that those who are should have their guns taken away.
Credit must be given where credit is due, but positive efforts can be hard to appreciate with the unprecedented level of prevarication, division and dysfunction we are experiencing.
Let us move in a positive direction for 2021. We will join Joe Biden in praying for the recovery of our president, his family and staff from Covid-19 and attempt to put our recollection of candidate Trump mocking Hillary for her pneumonia into perspective.

Carol, thanks for this list. A sad comment on Trump and Republicans, but all accurate
Mike Huffstetler says
Very Weak Carol!
However, we very much understand why you focused on President Trump’s many accomplishments in a mere 47 months, since former Vice President Biden has absolutely zero positive accomplishments in 47 years in public office!
Of course Mr. Dean agrees with you!
Try to find a list of Biden’s accomplishments, other than adding wealth to his family members, especially Hunter Biden, by corruptly using his public office!
