1st District of Maryland Representative, Andy Harris, recently was one of 11 members of congress to vote against House Bill H.R. 3224. This bill would increase women veterans’ access to Dept. of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical care, such as the availability of gender-specific primary care services, PTSD counseling, expanded healthcare for newborns, and more.
The vote was 399 YEA and 11 NAYS. Harris voted NAY. Happy Veterans Day, Ladies.
This vote is way too extremist for me and does not represent the way I think we should be treating our Veterans. I bet I am not alone. Perhaps it’s time we considered another Republican or Democrat to represent our interests.

Shameful, as per usual. It’s way past time for him to go, but too many Republicans support him no matter what, just like the President. Very sad commentary on our district and country.
Sheila Scott says
Harris as our representative is an embarrassment and the waste of our taxpayer dollars.
Eva Smorzaniuk says
Amazing. It makes me wonder with which part of the electorate actually can support these kinds of decisions. Ironic that he himself is part of the military reserves. Has he no compassion or understanding for the needs of our service people?
Alan Boisvert says
I cannot believe Harris beat Colvin in 2018. Rigged election??? Who are all the 1st District MORONS voting for Harris? I’m unconcerned about
backlash from whomever voted for Harris because they apparently CANNOT read anyway. Please WAKE UP 1st district.
Susan Diane Gilbert says
“Embarrassment and shameful” are oft-used words to describe Andy Harris, the Republican who’s sailed to victory in six consecutive elections as the 1st District Representative in the US House. Sort of like saying”Thoughts and prayers” in other contexts – empty words. Surely, at least a better Republican could be found.
Richard Marks says
Thanks, Chris, for keeping us informed as to the failings of our district representative. We do need the reminders and need not be blinded by his feeble attempts to “show up” and try to appear as if he really cares about his constituents. Most veterans I know, of which I am counted as one, are not Andy Harris supporters.
