Letter to the Editor: Farm Bureau Endorsements Important for County Council Election

Seeing the Talbot County Farm Bureau endorse Jennifer Williams, Corey Pack, Chuck Callahan, and Frank Divilio for the Talbot County Council was of interest to me. It would seem this group, comprising of mostly farmers and landowners, may have the greatest concern in maintaining the rural character of Talbot County, and are comfortable with the four endorsed candidates doing just that.

The restrictive zoning ordinance we now have is not that much different from previous ordinances. No Council is likely to do anything to substantially change what Talbot County is as far as land use is concerned. A more important matter is how the Council oversees the County budget, schools, etc. Electing Frank Divilio and re-electing Council members Jennifer Williams, Corey Pack and Chuck Callahan will help keep Talbot County moving forward in the most positive direction.

I hope you are right. All I can say is that, having attended a number of hearings over the summer, I was not all impressed by the three current members you are endorsing. They appeared not to listen to the overwhelming number of residents who were unhappy with the noise ordinance, the short rental deals and other items which appeared to be promoted by those wanting more development in Talbot County..
