Larry Hogan and Jesse Colvin will not agree with each other on every issue, but one thing is for sure: they both belong to the governing wings of their respective parties. Governor Hogan has thrived as a Republican in a Democratic state because he has demonstrated the ability to work with a Democratic legislature to address the interests of the citizens of Maryland, including their serious health and environmental concerns. He is not afraid to stand up to Presidential conduct when he finds it unconscionable, as was the case where the Trump administration instituted a policy of separating families at our borders.
Jesse Colvin is new to politics, so how can we be confident that he is cut from the same cloth? There are several answers to this question. First, Jesse’s leadership training took place in the US Army, which trains officers to lead men and women of different backgrounds and beliefs so that they will accomplish their military objectives. Jesse led a company of Army Rangers on four successful combat tours in Afghanistan. Second, Jesse’s campaign has reached across the political spectrum to include watermen, veterans, labor and progressive groups, Independents and Republicans. His efforts have earned endorsement from Wayne Gilchrest, the former Republican congressman in our district, as well as from other prominent Republicans. Third, Jesse’s personal life attests to his ability to work across the aisle: he is married to a Republican.
Democrats, Independents and Republicans will be well served replacing Andy Harris in Congress. Harris is best known for his strong affiliation with the Freedom Caucus whose biggest claim to fame is shutting down the Federal government. Elect Jesse Colvin and there will be one less member of the Freedom Caucus and one more member of the Climate Solutions Caucus.

I couldn’t agree more with with Mr. Davis. I am so impressed with Jess Colvin and his amazing family and outstanding team. My husband and I will be volunteering for the campaign throughout the fall. We need leadership in Congress and in our state that cares about the environment and the health of all our residents and all the issues that improve the quality of life for all Marylanders. More importantly, we need leadership that can reach across the isle and get legislation written and passed.

Well said, I agree. Larry Hogan has done a good job, one of the few who governs in a bi-partisan way to represent all of us in MD. And I hope we get to see what Jesse brings to Congress and how he works with others on our behalf.
