As a Talbot County resident for the last 16 years, I have watched and voted for various members of the County Council. Occasionally I have been impressed by a councilperson here or there but I have always noticed one thing: no matter who has sat in those seats, the Council has often seemed to be a table set with contention. Ours may not be the most important municipality in the world, but we deserve the care and attention to our needs and representation of our interests as if it were. Too often the Council seems to be a table full of egos and individual opinions poorly disguised as those of constituents.
Occasionally I have lost faith in the ability of the Council to come to compromises that would maximize service to the most residents. Many elections I have tried to vote for the least worst candidate(s). Rarely has a County candidate come along for whom I’ve actually felt enthusiasm. Enter Naomi Hyman. Her motto, “Building Bridges,” actually means something. She feels a duty to and a love for all Talbot residents – even the ones who disagree with her. Naomi listens and responds with actual interest and real concern – not as a ploy for votes but because she honestly, truly cares and thinks all Talbot citizens deserve to love living in their county as much as she does. Naomi is a Democrat who welcomes Republicans, a conservationist who values farmers, and a human being who believes bridges work better than walls in a harmonious community.
Please vote for Naomi this Election Day, and you will never again feel there is no Councilperson who listens or cares about YOU.

Nancy Robbins speaks truth— at least as I see the situation at present as we get ready to elect 5 individuals to be members of the Talbot County Council. Naomi Hyman is an intelligent, hard working person. Her abilities to collaborate, as well as her commitment to collaboratiion, is so needed at this time. I am so grateful that I have a chance to vote for her. I hope others who value integrity, respect for others of all opinions, and intelligent
assessments of issues will vote for Naomi Hyman.
