Have you been searching for meaning and joy in your life? Seeking inspiration? October at The Green Phoenix Gallery brings all this and more, with a wide array of colorful, spiritual mosaics and alcohol ink tiles by artist Lisa Skibenes.
“I was always artistic, but moving to the Eastern Shore in 2013 transformed me into an artist. I started by taking painting lessons at the Academy Art Museum, but it really all came together when I took a mosaic workshop taught by the wondrous Sue Stockman. I knew I had found my medium!
Inspiration was all around me; in the beauty of nature, the big open skies, the peacefulness and gratitude found in yoga, and all the amazing artists around me who supported me by either giving me materials or generously sharing the knowledge they acquired over a lifetime.
I find myself more and more wanting to create art that’s both affordable and meaningful. A large part of my new work is aimed at spreading love and happiness with a side of spirituality. My mosaic peace signs, hamsas, hearts and inspirational mirrors are works that check off all the items on this list.”
Gallery owner Andi Tassencourt invites the public to The Green Phoenix on First Friday, October 5, from 5 to 8 pm, to meet Skibenes, see her newest works, and to enjoy some wine, yummy finger foods, good company and conversation. Says Tassencourt, “The inspiring qualities of Lisa’s creations with their joyfulness and lightness of spirit are a wonderful complement to the international flavor of hand crafted works by our Fair Trade artisans, in combination with our eclectic mix of fine, artisanal crafts by local artists, and oil paintings by Diane DuBois Mullaly. All come together to offer an environment with a full range of creative arts for the community to enjoy!”
And FRIVOLOUS FIBERS Yarn Boutique, located inside The Green Phoenix Gallery, adds even more interest, featuring a new collection of its own line of gorgeous, hand-spun, and hand-dyed yarns.
The Green Phoenix Gallery is located at 31 N Harrison St, Easton. 410-822-7554. Open Monday – Saturday 10 am – 5pm, and Sunday from 11 am – 3 pm. www.facebook.com/greenphoenixgallery
