Author Amy Schisler is set to celebrate the launch her latest novel, The Good Wine, at Scossa Italian Restaurant on July 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Schisler, of Bozman, Maryland, has written nine novels, several taking place on the Eastern Shore, including the award-winning mystery, Picture Me, and the much-loved WWII and contemporary romance, Whispering Vines. The Good Wine is the sequel to Whispering Vines. While the first book is set primarily in Italy, with a handful of scenes on American soil, the sequel takes place in Little Italy, in Baltimore. The Good Wine tells the story of Marta Giordano and her return to America after thirty-six years. A mother, widow, and accomplished art historian, Marta lives with the regrets of a summer from long ago and the unrequited love she still longs for. Schisler’s novel is a tale of heritage, courage, finding one’s purpose, and rediscovering love.
Schisler grew up in Owings, Maryland, and moved to the Eastern Shore for college and then settled in Talbot County after marrying local, Ken Schisler. She has been writing since childhood and spent fifteen years working as a librarian in Calvert, Talbot, and Queen Anne’s Counties. Her love of research and writing led her to pursue a career as an author. Her love of wine led her to the vineyard that inspired Whispering Vines (recipient of an Illumination Award and the LYRA Award). She brings all of those together in both Whispering Vines and its sequel, The Good Wine.
The Good Wine will be available in stores and online on Thursday, July 1. The official launch party for The Good Wine will take place on Thursday, July 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Scossa Italian Restaurant, where Schisler’s novel will be available for purchase. She will also be signing copies of her other novels and reading a chosen excerpt from The Good Wine. Each attendee will receive a glass of Prosecco Italian sparkling wine, and light hors d’oeuvres will be served. The event is free and open to the public. Other events include a free Italian wine tasting and signing at Simpatico in St. Michaels on Saturday, July 17 from 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. A ticketed event will be held at Scossa on Thursday, August 12 where Amy will partner with local sommelier, Laurie Forster (who has appeared on The Dr. Oz Show, Fox Business Network, NBC and ABC News, among other media outlets).
Laurie will bring her expertise and her joyful personality to an evening of food, wine, book talk, wine talk, and fun.
