‘Love One Another’ Signs Emerge

Some ideas require nurturing.

Robin Lake

Over a decade ago Talbot County resident Robin Lake created a graphic inspired by 1 John 4:7, “Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and he who loves is born of God and knows God.” The graphic includes the message ‘Love One Another’ and an image of hands surrounded by a heart.

For Ms. Lake the work paused there. While life events took over, and her plans to share this graphic went on hold, her desire to share this message never left her.

Ms. Lake, who works for the Neighborhood Services Center as an intake worker, recently restarted the project. She shares, “It is so clear to me that I am called to spread this message across the community now. We have so much division in our world. Too much division. I feel this message is so needed.”

Unsure how to get started on next steps, she asked Talbot County Councilmember Corey Pack for ideas and he suggested she reach out to Rev. Sue Browning, Chair of the Talbot Association of Clergy and Laity (‘TACL’). TACL was happy to assist. Rev. Browning shares, “Ms. Lake had such a beautiful concept and message. I invited TACL member Wendy Roth of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Easton to help and we worked with Ms. Lake on sign production and getting the word out. It’s been an honor to be a part of sharing this message.”

The first dozen signs were produced and distributed in February. An early request for signs came from Rev. Nancy Dennis, pastor of St. Stephens AME Church in Unionville. Rev. Dennis notes, “This work is divinely inspired, and the message is critically needed now. It is by loving one another we can overcome strife, much sickness and disease. Bless you Ms. Lake, for sharing your gifts to convey this powerful message of hope and healing.”

More signs are now available. Ms. Lake also has had bumper stickers printed and is offering the graphic for use on websites, or in windows, or on posters.

To obtain a sign or to learn more about Robin Lake and her hoped-for outcome for this project, you may contact her at taclexcom@gmail.com. Ms. Lake welcomes your suggestions for other ways to “spread the Word.”
