Martha Hudson Excellence in Watercolor Award Exhibit

November 11, 2013 by Spy Desk

Share

Watercolorist members of St. Michaels Art League will once again compete in the sixth annual Martha Hudson Award for Excellence in Watercolor.  The exhibit of the submissions for the award will be displayed at the St. Michaels Branch Library gallery from December 2 through December 30, 2013.  Most of the paintings will be available for sale, and artist contact information will be displayed so that potential buyers can contact the artist directly.

The judge for the event will be announced on the Art League website (www.stmichaelsartleague.org) shortly, and winners of the competition will be announced at the Art League’s annual “Arty Party” on December 2.

Martha Hudson was a founding member of the “Traveling Brushes,” a group of women artists who initially shared a painting weekend and ended up sharing their lives through art.  Early in her career, Martha was the recipient of a prize named for a much-admired mentor in watercolor, and she generously offered to continue the tradition by establishing and funding an annual watercolor award through the St. Michaels Art League.  For more information, please visit the Art League website, www.stmichaelsartleague.org or call Sharon Price or Jo Merrill at 410-745-9018.
