Memorial Hospital Foundation Plans Seminar on Individual Retirement Accounts

University of Maryland Memorial Hospital Foundation will host an informative presentation, “IRA Essentials Seminar: The Basics,” on Thursday, May 19, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., at the Talbot Country Club in Easton.

Screen Shot 2016-05-03 at 7.37.52 AMGuest presenters at the occasion will be Steve Ochse, CPA, chief financial officer and vice president of finance for Easton Utilities, and Deborah Walsworth, CPA, CFP, CPC, managing director and tax practice leader for CBIZ MHM, LLC & Mayer Hoffmann McCann, PC.
Ochse and Walsworth will cover a number of topics relative to Traditional and Roth IRA accounts, including, types of IRAs — deductions and limit relating to each kind; Roth conversions — when and why; beneficiary designation rules; payout strategies for lifetime and after death; and qualified charitable distribution rules and leaving an IRA to charity. “We are very fortunate to have such highly respected and knowledgeable professionals from the local financial community leading this seminar,” says Graham Lee, vice president for philanthropy at UM Shore Regional Health. “They will share a lot of useful information for anyone who needs to better understand the basics of IRAs or who wants an up-to-date clarification of the IRA rules.”
