Piazza Food Bites: Three Cheers for the Italian White

For many people, Italian white wine is one of the great unknowns on the spectrum of choices available to American consumers. While Italian Reds, particularly the Chianti Classico variety, stand out brilliantly against competition from France in California, the country’s whites are almost unapproachable due to the lack of familiarity in the United States wine market, with the limited, and sometimes very disappointing, exception of Pinot Grigio.

Jenn Martella, Piazza’s wine advocate, wants to change that impression. This week she is cheerleading for the 2015 Vietti Roero Arneis from the Piedmont region as an excellent companion for Spring’s popular entrees of grilled fish and chicken.
