Polaris Village Ministries Update: A Community Jewel Opens on Port Street

September 9, 2024 by Dave Wheelan

Share

It’s really the job of a non-profit organization to be aspirational with its goals, but it’s another thing actually to reach those high expectations. And that is why the Spy has always had a soft spot for the work of Derick and Dina Daly and their Polaris Village Ministries.

Time and time again, success seems to follow the Dalys whenever they think big. From the creation of BAAM, a new state model for after-school programming, to Polaris Academy, the building of a first-class gymnasium, and now the construction of a new four-story academic center on Jowite Street, the Polaris Village Ministres always seem to hit the ball out of the park.

Another example of this success can now be found on Port Street with the opening of Polaris Village Ministries’ early learning classroom space and a community center facility. In this case, Polaris not only saved the frame and sprite of the old Mt Pisgah Church, built the classroom space they needed, but also added a community dining space and room for anyone to use.

In our latest Spy interview, Derick talks about the project and how good things can happen to good ideas.

This video is approximately five minutes in length. For more information about Polaris Village Ministries, please go here

A new and amazing, and much needed addition to our community. Polaris is a model construction for all those in need. They have really hit the ball out of the park with this little/huge project. We are so grateful to them for their loving and generous additions to a community in need in Easton. Its a blessing to our whole community for which we send gratitude and thanks.

Congratulations to Polaris on an outstanding job. I can’t wait to patronize the restaurant. Having worked with Habitat for Humanity for a number of years on the homes in that neighborhood and on either side of the church, I’m delighted to see it was preserved for the entire community, wonder wonderful addition and tribute to the early members of this historic congregation.
    We do feel their energy!
