Congratulations to the Saints Peter & Paul High School ACE (Architecture, Construction and Engineering) Team who won the ACE Cup Wednesday evening at the 16th Annual ACE Mentor Program Awards Ceremony at the Elks Lodge in Easton. Competing against other local high school teams, the Sabre team won for their Brookletts Avenue redevelopment project presentation, ‘Bringing the Outside In’, transforming the historic grain silos and adjacent buildings into a residential, commercial and conservation hub for the Easton community.

The students worked with important architectural, construction, and engineering concepts such as, building renovation and reuse; site design and layout; stormwater management; planning and zoning regulations; LEED certification requirements and goals; and project management, scheduling and budgeting to revitalize the area while preserving the iconic characteristics of the site and the agrarian culture of Easton and the Eastern Shore.

Senior team leader Billy Rust commented “Our ACE Team executed this project with true teamwork. We all collaborated ideas in forming a coherent but fun project, and everyone contributed their skills differently and effectively. I’m extremely thankful for both this hardworking team and our inspirational mentors.”

Congratulations to ACE team members Josh Sambrano, Shane Evans, Paul Dyer, Kevin Kyle, Billy Rust, Gabe Pantusa, and Andrey Perez along with their expert mentors, Eric Anderson-Licensed Architect and Associate Director at USGBC, Rebecca Saduk-Civil Engineer with Easton Utilities, and Sabre alum Ben Hallett- Mechanical Engineer with Gipe Associates, Inc.

ACE Mentor Hallett commented, “I am very proud to be an ACE mentor to this great group of students.  They worked very hard this year and created something that is genuinely a cool concept for the town of Easton!  Now they are reaping the rewards of that success with the ACE Cup win.”

“This site could become a hub for Easton, a town which is a hub for the Eastern Shore.” – ACE team member Gabe Pantusa.

The ACE Mentor Program’s mission is to engage, excite and enlighten high school students to pursue careers in architecture, engineering, and construction through mentoring and to support their continued advancement in the industry.
