Spy Best Bets: Easton Choral Arts Society’s Fall Concert

October 17, 2019 by Steve Parks

may stoke your appetite. So be warned: Don’t wait until later for dinner or lunch. The menu Thursday night and Sunday afternoon at Christ Church may stimulate more than your music appreciation. It may also leave your stomach growling.

The Choral Society’s “Singable Feast” concerts feature songs ranging from a satirical homage to Haydn’s “The Seasons” oratorio with PDQ Bach’s (aka Peter Schickele) “The Seasonings,”  including spicy ingredients–tarragon, leeks, sesame, and curry–instead of seasons. Jacques Offenbach’s “The Recipe” may inspire you to bake a cake when you get home, served with “Coffee in a Cardboard Cup” by Kander and Ebb of “Cabaret” fame. Other tastings include food-and-drink pieces by composers Paul Carey, John Rutter, Allen Petker, Greg Gilpin, Kirby Shaw, and Sigmund Romberg.

Concert times: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17; 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19. Tickets: $30 at the door, $25 online here or by calling 410-200-0498. Free admission for students.
