• Talbot County’s COVID-19 cases increased by 2 to 2,672; there was one new case Saturday and one new case Sunday.

• In the last 24 hours, 2 people died as a result of COVID-19, leaving the state’s total at 9,522.

Vaccinations
• CDC 18+ population with at least one dose : 74.4%
• The first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine has been given to 57.13% of Marylanders and 54.40% of Talbot County residents; second dose rates are 51.51% and 50.41% respectively.

Hospitalizations
• The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Maryland increased by 3 in the last 24 hours.
• There currently are 115 people hospitalized — 84 in acute care and 31 in intensive care.

I will be sorry to see this update end. Until there are zeros up and down the columns, the virus is still active in Talbot and Maryland. With the introduction of the Delta variant especially in the south and Midwest (and present in MD, too) I believe the Spy does a great health service in alerting readers to this deadly hazard.
