While there have been a number of Talbot County Comprehensive Plan workshops that have taken place this year to discuss the various chapters and possible revisions of the 2005 plan, the community discussion process enters an important phase this month.
The Talbot County Council has now completed its review of the draft Plan and have called for two public review and comment sessions on the content and composition of the draft.
The first session is scheduled for Monday December 7, from 4pm-7pm, in the Wye Oak Room of the Community Center. The format of this session will be a round table discussion. Members of the community nominated by Council members will participate in a review of the Comprehensive Plan’s concepts, objectives and recommendations.
The second session is planned for Monday December 14, 2015, from 5pm-7pm, at the Talbot County Free Library in Easton. This session will be a public meeting in which the community is invited to make comments on the draft Plan.
In order to make the latest draft available, planning staff has prepared a “red-line” version, indicating Council additions and deletions to the draft plan submitted by the Planning Commission in February, 2015.
Edited chapters have been posted on the Comprehensive Plan webpage in the Planning and Zoning area of the County website. Maps, charts or pictures that are not amended may not be included in the redline draft. Readers may refer to the February Planning Commission draft for comparison.
Following the conclusion of the December public meetings, Planning staff will create a final draft version of the Comprehensive Plan. The County Council will introduce a resolution to introduce, hold an additional public hearing, and vote to adopt the Comprehensive Plan.
The Spy will be covering both meetings.
The public is urged to follow the County Council agenda for the schedule to adopt the Plan. Written comments on the draft Comprehensive Plan are welcome at any time, and may be submitted by mail to:
