Spy Moment: YMCA’s Take the Helm Teens Launches the Endeavor

Share

Take the Helm launched its 3rd boat on Saturday afternoon on the Tred Avon. The sailboat, the Endeavor, was built by Talbot County teenagers under the leadership of Alex Greenlee, the YMCA’s project director for Take the Helm with area volunteers helping mentor the high school students in this creative program that teaches the technical aspects of construction along with essential life skills.

A trusted Spy was able to capture the Endeavor’s first sail under strong winds as part of the fun this weekend.

Letters to Editor

  1. How refreshing to read about the accomplishments and caring leadership of those who honor the capabilities of teens! We read so much in the media about the sins and evil actions of teens but it is a blessing to have program leaders such as Alex Greenlee profess his dedication to inspiring and guiding teens to great levels of fulfillment. Such dedication will greatly influence our teens to achieve in life and the joy of hard work in reaching their life. goals. My granddaughter, Nicole DiCaprio, was a member of this diligent crew of boat builders who was honored for her gifted abilities in art in the creation of the boats artistic title, THE ENDEAVOR. It is so hoped that all of the endeavors of these young people will result in happiness and success in all that they achieve in life.
