There was a remarkable pairing of Robert Rauschenberg’s remarkable artwork and the sensory pleasure of listening to vinyl recordings at the Academy Art Museum last Friday evening.
Under the expert guides of local vinyl enthusiasts, Kentavius Jones and Gray Boutte, art fans could experience the delight of hearing the warm detail and resonance only found when a needle hits the surface of a record while gazing at some of Rauschenberg’s best work, now on loan from the National Gallery of Art while the DC-based museum completes renovation of the East Wing building.
